Salty Sisters Surf Trip To Andalucía
Salty Sisters Take on Andalucía: Our First Surf Trip Abroad! 🌊✨
What a week! Our first-ever Salty Sisters surf trip to Andalucía was an absolute blast—full of adventure, waves, laughter, and even a little unexpected weather drama. But what’s a good surf trip without a bit of excitement, right?

An Adventure from the Start ✈️🌪️
The trip started with an interesting journey… Let’s just say EasyJet Bristol to Málaga deserves a round of applause for landing us safely after some extreme weather conditions, a second landing attempt, and a surprise diversion to another airport. Ahhh, the joys of travel!
But nothing could dampen our spirits. We finally arrived at A-Frame Surf Camp, a stunning beachfront spot in El Palmar, where we were greeted with a delicious welcome dinner and the warm company of our fellow Salty Sisters from Wales, France, Germany, and Switzerland. After a long day, we hit the hay early, buzzing for our first surf session.

Waking Up to Surf, Yoga & Endless Coffee ☕🌞
Mornings at A-Frame were a dream—a massive breakfast spread with fresh juices, smoothies, endless coffee and tea, and all the fuel we needed for an epic day ahead. Once we were fed and our gear was sorted, we set off in search of the perfect waves.
Our first session took us to Barbate, a sheltered beach that provided the perfect conditions to ease into the week. For some, it had been a few months out of the water, but muscle memory kicked in fast! And with no crowds, we had our pick of the waves. Sergio, our brilliant photographer, captured every smile, wave, and wipeout—memories to last a lifetime.
After our session, we headed back to camp for yet another delicious meal (seriously, the food at A-Frame never disappoints). The afternoon was all about yoga, stretching out those surf muscles before pizza, wine, and homemade limoncello at a local spot. Not a bad way to end the day, right?

Surf, Stoke & Sisterhood 🤙
The rest of the week followed a perfect rhythm—surf, eat, yoga, repeat. But every session had its own magic.
🌊 One-on-one coaching from Gemma and Sabrina meant everyone had personal goals to work on, from paddle technique and pop-ups to stance, stability, and catching unbroken waves. With a smaller group, progress was fast—and the stoke levels were even higher!
We surfed through all kinds of weather—torrential rain to beautiful sunshine, and even torrential rain (which, let’s be honest, made for an epic warm-up session).
🏄♀️ Midweek, we got everyone "out the back" to catch unbroken waves—pushing past limits, cheering each other on, and making huge breakthroughs. The energy was unreal, and friendships were cemented in the salt and spray.
Beyond the surf, we had balance training, theory sessions on wave formation, swells, and reading surf forecasts, and daily yoga to keep us strong and flexible. Every single moment was used to level up our surf skills and soak up the experience.

The Best Kind of Goodbye… Until Next Time!
As the week came to a close, we knew one thing for sure: this wasn’t a one-off trip! We’ll definitely be organizing another Salty Sisters adventure next year.
So many waves were ridden, so much progress was made, and so many laughs were shared. We left Andalucía with new skills, new friendships, and memories we’ll be talking about for years.
Stay tuned for details on our next trip—trust us, you don’t want to miss it!
Until then… see you in the water 🌊🤙
