Eight Weeks To Develop Real Professional Confidence
This is not simply a qualification course. It is designed to build the practical skills, confidence, leadership and industry awareness needed to work in surf schools, watersports centres and adventure activity businesses.
You will spend time on the beach, in the water and around real operations, learning how to coach, manage groups, prepare equipment, assess risk and make better decisions in changing outdoor environments.

The programme mixes surf coaching, paddle sports, rescue training, outdoor leadership and operational experience to create a broad professional foundation.

Build Towards Surf, SUP, Lifeguard & Rescue Awards
The programme gives you access to a wide range of training pathways. Individual outcomes depend on attendance, fitness, competency, assessment performance, conditions and personal progression.
Duration, Fitness & Prerequisites
You do not need previous qualifications or to be highly experienced in every activity, but you do need a suitable level of fitness and water confidence.
Duration
Eight weeks of professional training, four days per week, usually around 9am to 5pm.
Minimum Age
Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
Swimming
Swim 200m in a pool within 5 minutes and work towards 400m in under 8 minutes by course completion.
Land Fitness
Run 200m in under 1 minute and maintain a good level of fitness for practical outdoor sessions.
Accommodation, Equipment & Training Package
The £4,200 fee covers the core eight-week training programme, self-catering accommodation and the equipment package described below.

Self-catering accommodation for the eight-week programme in a shared student living environment.
Personal Equipment
A wetsuit, changing robe, dry bag and additional practical kit according to season and individual needs.
Training Equipment
Use of surfboards, SUPs, kayaks, jumbo SUP equipment, safety kit, rescue kit and coasteering equipment.

Practical coaching experience, operational exposure, feedback and progression support.
