Outer Reef is licensed to operate coasteering activities within the National Trust-managed Stackpole coastline, including the Stackpole Quay and Barafundle Bay area.
Stackpole is one of Pembrokeshire’s most impressive coastal estates, with cliffs, beaches, woodland, lakes, wildlife habitat, walking routes and access towards Barafundle Bay.
This licence matters because it helps protect the coastline while allowing visitors to experience it responsibly with trained local guides who understand access, conditions, conservation and safety.
Stackpole Quay is a spectacular base for coasteering because of its limestone coastline, clear water, rocky gullies, sea caves and dramatic natural features.
The surrounding coastline towards Barafundle Bay gives the area a real sense of adventure. It feels wild, scenic and memorable while still being accessible as part of a guided session.
Many visitors combine their coasteering experience with a walk around Stackpole Estate, a visit towards Barafundle Bay or a wider South Pembrokeshire adventure day.
A brilliant option for adventurous families who want something more exciting than a normal beach day. Sessions are supportive, guided and adapted around the group.
Great for friends, schools, youth groups, teams, stag and hen groups and adventure weekends looking for a shared coastal challenge.
Solo travellers can join available sessions, meet other adventure seekers and explore the Pembrokeshire coast safely with experienced instructors.
Every coasteering session starts with a welcome, kit check and safety briefing. Your instructors will explain how to move through the coastal environment, how to enter and exit the water, and what to expect during the route.
Depending on the conditions, your session may include sea swimming, rock scrambling, natural gullies, cave exploration and optional jumps.
The focus is always on enjoyment, safety, confidence and adventure. Nobody is forced to jump, and the session is shaped around the group.
Stackpole Quay is a popular visitor location in South Pembrokeshire with parking, toilets and access to coastal walks. The Boathouse tea-room is nearby, making the area a strong base for a full adventure day.
Roads around the estate can be narrow and the area can be busy in peak holiday periods, so it is worth allowing plenty of time before your session.
Barafundle Bay is reached on foot from the Stackpole area and is one of Pembrokeshire’s most famous beaches. Coasteering routes depend on the sea state, tide, weather and group ability.
