Salty Sisters Surf Trip To Andalucía

LADIES ADVENTURE ACTIVITY HOLIDAYS

Salty Sisters Surf Trip To Andalucía

The trip started with an interesting journey… Let’s just say EasyJet Bristol to Málaga deserves a round of applause for landing us safely after some extreme weather conditions, a second landing attempt, and a surprise diversion to another airport. Ahhh, the joys of travel!

But nothing could dampen our spirits. We finally arrived at A-Frame Surf Camp, a stunning beachfront spot in El Palmar, where we were greeted with a delicious welcome dinner and the warm company of our fellow Salty Sisters from Wales, France, Germany, and Switzerland. After a long day, we hit the hay early, buzzing for our first surf session.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

WOMEN'S SURF RETREATS IN SPAIN

Waking Up to Surf, Yoga & Endless Coffee

Mornings at A-Frame were a dream a massive breakfast spread with fresh juices, smoothies, endless coffee and tea, and all the fuel we needed for an epic day ahead. Once we were fed and our gear was sorted, we set off in search of the perfect waves.

Accommodation

The Luxury Of Our Little Surf Retreat

Our first session took us to Barbate, a sheltered beach that provided the perfect conditions to ease into the week. For some, it had been a few months out of the water, but muscle memory kicked in fast! And with no crowds, we had our pick of the waves. Sergio, our brilliant photographer, captured every smile, wave, and wipeout—memories to last a lifetime.

After our session, we headed back to camp for yet another delicious meal (seriously, the food at A-Frame never disappoints). The afternoon was all about yoga, stretching out those surf muscles before pizza, wine, and homemade limoncello at a local spot. Not a bad way to end the day, right?

WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL SURF RETREATS

Midweek, we got everyone "out the back" to catch unbroken waves—pushing past limits, cheering each other on, and making huge breakthroughs. The energy was unreal, and friendships were cemented in the salt and spray.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WOMEN’S FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Yes! All of our lessons and packages include FREE wetsuit hire unless where is the tropics.

Let us know what dress size you wear (Women’s 6 - 20).

Of course you can! If you only have a shortie or are unsure if it still fits you (don't worry it happens!), let us know what size you are anyway and we can bring you a suit just in case.

  • A swimming costume/shorts
  • A beach towel
  • Some flip flops or shoes to walk over the pebbles (if needed)
  • Any medication you may need (eg. Asthma inhaler)
  • Warm clothes to change into afterwards
  • A big smile and a sense of adventure

SUP: For ease, we recommend using one of ours. They are all top of the range O’shea, Jobe and Finla boards.

Surf: If you have your own board you are more than welcome to use it but we do recommend one of our Foam boards as they really help when you are learning.

SUP: No, you don’t need shoes, bare feet grip very well to our boards. If your trip is from Stackpole Quay, we recommend bringing some shoes that you can leave in a bag at the Quay as there are a few stones to walk over to get to the water's edge.

Surf: You may want to bring some shoes to walk over the pebbles at our surf beaches. These will be left on the beach while we are in the water so please dont bring your most treasured shoes!

The beauty of watersports is that anyone can give them a go! We have taken people on the water from every walk of life imaginable. All we ask is that you can swim at least 25m unaided as this is for your safety.

Yes, in most cases you can absolutely still come along to our weekends. All of our instructors take ‘rescue bags’ out on the water with them so any medications can go into this bag for the duration of the activities. If you would like to discuss this with us further, please drop us an email and a member of the team will contact you.

We do ask that you can swim at least 25m unaided in order to join us on any one of our sessions.

We use various accommodation providers across the the globe area including Geo Domes at The Little Retreat, lovely country houses Estate and hotel style seaside accommodation. Most of our accommodation has self catering facilities. Please note, some accommodation will be shared but amazing.

Your accommodation will be well signposted with Outer Reef signage for your arrival and you can check in from 4pm. The following day your team of instructors for the week will meet you just outside your accommodation at 9am for a meet & greet.

Most of our accommodation providers offer all-inclusive however we do use self catering facilities so you can make your own breakfasts. For lunches we recommend packed lunches or you can buy lunch at our location venues which all offer options for food. We will book a lovely pub for Saturday evening so the whole group can enjoy a meal together.

Of course you can! The majority of women who come along on our weekends come solo. We want to connect you with like minded ladies who enjoy similar activities!

Pembrokeshire and the locations we use for our activities are quite remote. However we can offer advice and recommendations for local public transport options, just get in touch with us prior to your arrival. Once everyone has arrived for the weekend, we recommend car sharing as location venues can be busy.

All our water based activities are subject to weather and swell conditions. We want to make sure you have the best possible experience on the water with us so we will email you the week before your arrival with a rough schedule based on the forecast and will fill in any gaps at the meet & greet.

Freshwater West or Manorbier Beach

It all depends if in the UK Europe or in the tropics but will always inform you prior to departure.

Our locations do not have changing facilities so we recommend wearing your swimming costume under your clothes. Tenby North beach has a cold water public shower that is free to use. All other locations do not have shower facilities. We recommend bringing a towel robe or Dry Robe to change after your session.

All of our locations have toilet facilities.

Yes! You can leave your car keys etc in our vans or our lock ups (depending on the location). Outer Reef does not take responsibility for any items left and we do have limited space so please don’t bring your diamond jewellery and massive overnight bags!

1.5hr - 2hrs

Don’t worry, we understand these things happen.

If you cancel more than 3 weeks before your arrival date, we are able to give you a full refund.

If it is less than 3 weeks before, we will endeavour to fill your spot. If we are unable to do so, we will issue a voucher for the value of the activities which you can spend in one of our stores or on activities in future. Unfortunately we are unable to refund the accommodation.
