Mentawai Islands · Telo Islands · Maximum 10 surfers · 10-day charter
Outer Reef operates exclusive Mentawai and Telo Islands surf charters with a maximum of 10 surfers per trip, creating a focused, high-quality surf experience.
Our 2025 August Mentawai surf charter is fully booked, and early spaces for the 2026 season are open. The trip is designed for intermediate and advanced surfers who want access to world-class waves, local guidance and the flexibility to move with the conditions.
Rather than committing to one fixed area, the charter route can respond to swell direction, wind and tide. That gives the crew more opportunity to place the group at the most suitable waves available during the trip.

Off-season Mentawai surfing can deliver excellent wave quality with fewer boats and less pressure in the line-up.

More space in the line-up can mean more opportunities, longer sessions and a calmer surf experience.

The islands offer a wide range of reef breaks, from playful walls to powerful barrels when conditions align.

Guides use forecast, tide and wind information to choose the best available area for the group.

A surf charter keeps the group mobile and reduces time lost travelling back and forth from a fixed land base.
Each day is shaped around the ocean. The crew can move overnight, begin with a dawn patrol and adapt the programme as swell direction, tide and wind change.
The itinerary is deliberately flexible. The aim is not to follow a rigid schedule, but to place the group near the best suitable waves available each day.
Meet the crew, organise boards and safety information, then begin the journey into the island chain.
Daily routing is based on swell forecasts, tide windows, local wind and the group’s surfing ability.
Dawn patrols, daytime sessions and sunset surfs are balanced with meals, rest and travel between locations.

Explore legendary Mentawai waves and the Telo Islands’ diverse reef breaks with guides who understand the local currents, tide windows and swell angles.
Every Outer Reef charter is designed around surf access, local knowledge, small groups and the freedom to follow the best available conditions.
This is not a beginner surf camp. Guests should be comfortable paddling, taking off independently and surfing reef waves in deeper water.
You can reach the line-up under your own power and manage longer sessions in moving water.
You understand positioning, take-off commitment and the consequences of surfing over reef.
You are ready to improve wave selection, confidence and performance in high-quality Indonesian waves.
The exact route depends on conditions, but the wider region offers an extraordinary variety of lefts, rights, barrels and open-faced reef waves.

A world-famous left with a long, high-performance wall when swell and tide align.

Powerful reef waves associated with some of the most recognised surfing in the Mentawai Islands.

A diverse island chain offering alternative reef options and the chance to move away from busier zones.
Remote islands, mobile accommodation and daily access to some of Indonesia’s most sought-after surf.

Join a small-group Mentawai and Telo charter built around warm water, expert local knowledge and maximum time in the ocean.
